Pursuing my passion
Grand Canyon

"Journey of Peace" 18 x 24
"Journey of Peace" was created from inspiration I received from my last trip to the Grand Canyon in November. We arrived to a foggy mist hanging over the depths below - about 40 ft. out the view was nothing more than a swirling fog hiding the mysteries of the canyon. Since I was just there for one full day I was hoping that the views the next day were a little more revealing.
I went to bed hoping I would be able to get some great reference shots for future paintings. I was thrilled to wake up the next morning to moody clouds in the sky! The sun flickered in and out revealing the magic that happens on the canyon walls as the light transforms the scene minute by minute.
My first trip to the Grand Canyon had been the year before - sunny skies were in order that trip so I was so happy to have some of the moodiness that I had seen in other photos. The only thing to top that would have been snow - and what happens?? We leave in a blizzard the next morning at 6 am that has visibility down to about 2". It was pretty scary trying to drive in it. If we hadn't needed to get to California that day I would have stayed and gotten some pics of the snow on the canyon walls.
Between both trips I probably have well over 1,000 photos so I can't wait to explore some of the other moods of the GC. As I gaze across the canyons it never ceases to cause a sense of peace and wonder at all the stories that it could tell! Love it there!
