Pursuing my passion

The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge just northwest of Taos has intrigued me for several years. My last visit to Taos this fall had me viewing the gorge from the opposite side as previous visits because of construction on the bridge. Because traffic was limitied to one lane at a time going across the bridge, it actually made it easier to walk out on the bridge for the amazing views. It's a dizzying experience looking down the rocky gorge 650 feet to the Rio Grande below...especially when the bridge starts shaking from the traffic.

My fascination with this deep gorge amidst the flat expanse of land between the Carson National Forest and the Sangre de Cristos mountains led me to paint this version of "Rio Grande Gorge."
